New Years Resolutions 2016

Everybody's writing about they're goals for 2016. And I want to join in the fun! 2015 was an amazing year. So much happened, good and bad things. Mostly good and lovely though. I, for example, started this blog, got voted into the top 10 wedding bloggers of Finland, got married and visited the USA for the first time in my life. Those are huge things and I'm more than grateful for all of them. Unfortunately I experienced some sadness as well when my dear Grandfather passed away at the beginning of the year. He was very important to me and I guess even now I'm not quite over it and I miss him so much. But I also believe that he wished me to be happy and in the end, that I have been <3

Perfectly Pink Lips

When you say nude you could be meaning a good amount of things. Especially if you're talking about lipstick shades. It can be pink or it can be peachy. If you're not into makeup this will sound really absurd to you, but pink and peach are totally different. I remember a time when I didn't quite get the joke in the movie Devil Wears Prada, when Andrea points out that the two belts look exactly the same. Because they did. Nowadays, I totally understand haha.

Christmas Outfits

Hey lovelies<3 I hope everybody's week is going well! Today I want to show you what I'll be wearing on Christmas. But before I do that I would love you to check a site called Pep & Prose. It's a lifestyle website for young women and I'm really proud to announce, that my some of my makeup tutorials will be published there! They also publish inspiring and empowering articles of style, fitness and books written by other bloggers, so go check it out :)

But now onto the topic! I feel like Christmas requires two outfits. Christmas morning is always very chilled and I spend many hours in front of the telly and in the sauna. For this part of the day I tend to wear some christmassy leggings, a Christmas jumper and some woolly sock, since it's always sooo cold at my parents house!

Gift Wrapping

Mission accomplished peeps! I fianlly bought the last pressie today and all that's left is the wrapping. Personally I love wrapping gifts. I'm not a massive arts & crafts person but present wrapping is one of those little things I enjoy and for the past couple of years I've opted for something different than the basic Christmas wrapping papers.

Drugstore Christmas Makeup Tutorial

This time next week it's Christmas. And that just sounds so crazy. I'm so exciteeedd! Another thing I can't wait to pass by is the darkest day of the year (is the correct term shortest day?), which is the 22nd of December. I filmed another video for you and was in such a hurry to have it all done with by the time it starts getting dark again. Can I add a studio light to my Christmas wishlist? It would make life (or filming) 1000x easier!

Since my next video will be published on THE Christmas Day, I thought I'd show you now what my make up of the day will be for the special occasion.

Fave of Youtube

The past couple of days I've spent under a blanket, drinking something warm and keeping a tissue package close to me at all times. In other words, the flu got me! Nooooo! But oh well, I'm going to make the most out of it (as if there's much to do when you're ill) and concentrate on watching Youtube and maybe a couple of Christmassy films. Whilst doing so I thought I'd list my fave Youtube channels at the moment. Luckily, most of them are doing vlogmas at the moment, so there's a lot to watch! These are in no particular order and they all are very cheery and lovely!

DIY Lip Scrub

A yummy lip scrub is something I couldn't live without in the wintertime. Using one is definitely part of my everyday skincare routine and I love making my own scrub. That way I know what ingredients the scrub consists of. This one is really easy to make and it takes less than five minutes. It also tastes really yummy and very sweet, so I usually just eat the excess on my lips :D

Buying a pet rabbit

I'm so excited to introduce Myrtle the bunny (Myrtti in Finnish) to you! She is a 3 month old dwarf lop (I think you call them Holland lops in the US?). She's named after Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter, who looks similar with the floppy ponytails. However, their personalities couldn't be any different.

Gifts for Him

Men can be sooo difficult! And I didn't say that only because they always say that about us ladies. I aaalways struggle to find gifts for them. A guy can buy a girl jewellery or a fragrance or a gift set from Body Shop and she'll surely be more than happy. If somebody has figured the presents that will never fail for men, then please, do share! But here's what I thought they might appreciate this Christmas.

My Christmas Wishlist

I haven't written to Santa in many years. He must be really clever though, because somehow  he still seems to know what I like hehe. Now that I have this blog and knowing a little list might actually help somebody else as well to buy gifts for another person, I decided a list is exactly what I want to do. If you know a (blogging) makeupjunkie or a person who loves cute things, this list might just make your pressie search a lot easier.

Christmas TAG

I really wanted to add some pictures of our Christmas decorations into todays post, but as I said in my lates video: "there is NO light in this country at the moment"! Oh well. Today I'm anyway going to do a tag, because I think they're so much fun! Since you all shared with me your favourite things about Christmas lately in my little giveaway, I thought it was my turn to share mine now. This tag is called The Christmas Tag, which I saw on  the Confessions of a Nagging Mother -blog. Here goes.

Favourite Christmas movie?
Love actually. Colin Firth and the little boy are my fave characters! And I also absolutely must mention The Snowman. It's the best ever!

Do you open your Christmas presents in the morning or afternoon?
In Finland, we open our presents on the 24th. Father Christmas visits us a day earlier than the UK, which I guess makes sense since he lives here ;) Anyways I think I like the British way better, because here we open the presents in the evening and have to go through Christmas dinner before that and the wait is looooong! I'd rather have the presents in the morning and then relax with the food :D

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Oh yes! As a kid we used to spend every other Christmas in England and I remember us going for a drive to Central London on Christmas day in the evening, when there was nobody else around. We went to see all the Christmas lights and they are so beautiful in London <3

Favourite festive food?
Mince pies are delicious! And the Finnish equivalent to them are called joulutorttu, which I enjoy even more. They're not exactly the same and instead of having mince meat in the center, they are filled with plum marmalade. With a srinkle of icing sugar on top, they taste heavenly! I could eat 10 in a row. They are my greatest motivation at the gym this time of the year haha!

Favourite Christmas gift?
I can't and won't pick one! As a child I got more excited about everything, such as a huge Barbie airplane and THE Furby (mine was called Coco and it was pink). But they're not quite as practical as the gifts I've received as an adult :D

Favourite Christmas scent?
The Pomander ball! Basically it's an orange pierced by cloves. The scent is Christmas itself!

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
As I said above, we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve in Finland, so yes, a lot of traditions. In the morning we watch The Snowman and a program called (loosely translated) Santa's hotline (children call Father Christmas, who answers the phone on telly, how exciting :D ). Then we go to the sauna, chill, have dinner, open pressies, have dessert and chill some more.

What tops your tree?
A small silvery star. We only have a mini tree in our mini flat so the star is fairly mini too :)

What's the best part of Christmas for you?
I have two words: Family & Food. Nothing beats them <3

Now I shall start my weekend with a huge bag of pick'n'mix sweeties and watch a film. Have a lovely weekend everybody <3

PS. Next week I'll have a special little guest aka the newest addition to the family visiting my blog hihi <3 I can't wait!!

November favourites

Once again it is time to think about the past month and what I have been loving. I first have a few beauty products to show you and then I also have some random things I want to mention! Although it's not Friday, which is my "official" video day, I exceptionally wanted to also chat you through my fave things and post this post as close to the end of November as possible. I hope you enjoy my super rambly favourites video! Also, be sure to check at the very end of this post who won my Festive Season Giveaway!

Winter Wardrobe Staples - Knitted Cardigans

Winters are cold.
That was basically the only sentence I had written when I re-opened my draft. Felt so intelligent lol. But hey, it's very true. And to be honest with you, I don't like cold. Cool I love, but cold is just uncomfortable. Unless you can stay inside all day under a blanket, eat sweets and drink hot drinks. Cold weather dries your skin, gives you a runny nose and makes life very annoying for an asthmatic person! Since a weather machine is yet to be invented, all you can do is cope with it (or fly away to a warmer country mmmm... a girl can dream right?)! And one way to do that is to wear super warm and cozy clothes!

Champagne makeup tutorial

Happy Friday lovelies. Who's been shopping today? Black Friday isn't a huge thing here in Finland, infact I think this is the first year I've seen Black Friday sales anywhere. But there were some sales going on and I went to check them out at our local shopping center. I found a couple of Christmas presents for my little sisters and a dress for myself. And of course I found loads of things to add to my Christmas wishlist...

Lipsticks for the Festive Season

Now then, to end my little series of Holiday makeup, I'll show you my picks of lipsticks which I can see myself wearing during December. I'm generally way more of a lipstick girl than a lip gloss girl, because my long hair doesn't get along with sticky lip glosses. Oh the hard decisions of life: to cut my hair short or to give up lip gloss. Jookes!

What's in my travel makeup bag?

It's Friday yeiii! And that means it's time for another video. I feel like I'm getting into a bit of a routine here: I write posts on Mondays and Wednesdays and Friday is video day. And it's working out quite well too for me!

In today's video I reveal the contents of my travel makeup bag, which I take with me when I go away for a weekend. Basically I take my everyday essentials with me everywhere. When my trip lasts a weekend I also take a couple of extra bits and bops. And if it lasts longer... well, let's put it this way: I would use a "slightly" bigger makeup bag.

Nail Polishes for the Festive Season

It's time for part two in my little Holiday season series. And today I'd like to show you my picks for nails. Since I basically teared my gel nails off after last summer (I know, not the proper way to do it, but tens of euros cheaper), I've had to wear nail polish at all times because my nails are still recovering. Having said that, I don't think it's a disadvantage at all. Polished nails are so pretty!

Eye Shadows for the Festive Season

So, yes, I'm early. But the holidays aren't that far away! I've already even attended one pre-Christmas party and so I thought it would be really nice to share some of my favourite makeup picks for the upcoming season. Anyway, I know I'm not the only crazy person, who starts craving for christmassy treats, decorations and products way too early ;)

Fashion Haul & Try-on

It's the weekend woop woop! Although for me that will mean work, work and work, I don't mind. It's still Friday evening and I love that time of the week (who doesn't?). Tell me, what do you have planned for this weekend?

To kick off this weekend I have a fairly chatty try-on haul video for you! Check it out and let me know what you thought of my new clothes! I personally can't wait to wear them. And also the two Christmas products (plus the jumper!) make me want to decorate our house with elves and other seasonal things.

My Candle Collection

I love scented candles. Especially in the autumn and winter time, when it gets really dark really early, On many evenings you could find me sitting on our sofa with all the lights switched off and our flat filled with candles. They make any evening feel cosy and walking into a room with a scented candle burning is absolutely sensational!

Read & Relax

Hey everybody! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was pretty hectic but I still managed to visit my parents and Eero's parents, which was nice since it was Father's Day here in Finland. But today is my day off and while Eero is going to watch Jarkko Nieminen and Roger Federer play tennis, I think I'll dedicate my evening to reading and relaxing.

Naked Smoky tutorial

I bought the Naked Smoky palette a couple of weeks ago for myself as a little treat. I've been getting a lot of use out of it and it's quickly becoming one of my favourite eye shadow palettes. The quality of the eye shadows is just amazing! They're really pigmented, super blendable and the shades are so beautiful!

To do in November

Happy November peeps! It's another month and I can't believe there are only two months left of this year. I feel like I still want to do so many things before the year changes! Can somebody please stop the time for a bit?

Since nobody has invented a time turner yet and I haven't received a letter from Hogwarts, I guess the best thing to do at this point is to organize: take out a calendar and a to do -list and start planning ahead. Which is exactly what I intend to do right now.

1. Write thesis
This is a must. I want it as ready as possible before next January, so that when I go to London at the beginning of next year I can totally concentrate on Primark and Boots. Lol.

2. Revise German
I have an exam coming up at the end of this month. I've really enjoyed studying this language and want to get a fairly good grade. Compared to my major subject, which is educational science, you can't just go rambling on about things in a German exam, instead you really have know your grammar and vocabulary.

3. Celebrate my hubby's birthday
Birthday's are always exciting, don't you think? Receiving presents is fun alright but giving presents is just totally cool!

4. Do some serious Christmas shopping
The clever thing to do would be to start buying presents for everybody yesterday. The earlier the better. I acknowledge this every year, and yet I always find myself shopping for the last presents a day before Christmas together with thousands of other people.

5. Put up Christmas decorations
I usually put up my Christmas tree and lights when the lights on Oxford street are lit. But they did that pretty early this year it seems and I just noticed I'm already late. I need to fix another date for myself.

6. Get ready for London
Going away for a whole month means I need a place to stay, pack sensibly and just plan everything ahead. But I'm so excited about this that I don't think I really even need to remind myself to prepare for the journey. Whiiii!

What do you have planned for the rest of the year? And when do you start preparing for Christmas?

Two years ago I said YES

Exactly two years ago I got the most wonderful surprise of my life. I woke up and was told to stay in the bedroom for a while. Eero left the room and after twenty minutes or so, ordered me to close my eyes. He lead me to our living room, put some music on and told me to open my eyes. The room was filled with candles and roses and chocolate. After two years of being together, he knelt down and I said yes, of course. I can't believe that was two years ago.

After our engagement we decided on a day pretty quickly and slowly started preparing for the wedding. We had a year and a half to get everything done for it. I think it was perfect. We had loads of time to plan and decide on the theme and venue and other things important. But also I would have probably gone bonkers if I had had to wait any longer!

Pic: Täydenkuun Kuva

Last summer we finally got married and it was honestly the best day of my life. I got to marry the love of my life, my best friend and soulmate. Being married to Eero is the best thing in the world. Now that I've gone through getting married, I totally understand why some people don't feel like they don't need to get married. Because it doesn't change anything. Well maybe legally it does, but I'm more interested in the emotional side. We care about each other just as much as before the wedding.

Pic: Täydenkuun Kuva

But also, getting married is just so cool. It's so much fun to have all the important people in your life around you. I mean, who doesn't love a good party, which you've planned just the way you want it to be. If you don't want to get married then seriously consider organizing a love party or something. It can be big or small, a get together or a festival.

So today is the second anniversary of our engagement. We celebrated by having a little tea moment together with vanilla cream filtered buns, before going to work later on in the afternoon. It was just as life should be, making the most of the little moments of life. <3

Have a lovely week everybody!

October favourites + announcement

The best month of the year is now over. It has been so beautiful and sunny but also quite busy. I've been writing my thesis, done some substitute teaching and also been organizing a very special change in my life, which I will get back to at the very end of this post. Alas I have had time to blog and film, which I love doing and also I've found time to read novels, which has rarely happened during my studies.

My October favourites include some beauty products, as always, some books and some apps. Traditionally, I want to start with the beauty products :)

The Beauty Blender is fairly new to me although definitely not to the rest of the world. I bought at the beginning on this month and I honestly don't know how I survived without it. It's so easy to use and gives such a soft finish to your makeup. I love it!

H&M have really made an effort in their new makeup collection. I was very intrigued in buying all of their new products when I last visited a store, but since I had my darling husband with me and he always loves to remind me how I don't need any more makeup, I ended up buying just a cream blusher. And I love it too! The quality is amazing, pigmentation is great and the shade I have (Peachy Rose) is stunning! H&M have really done a good job here.

I already raved about the Garnier BB cream in a previous post of mine but I can't stop going on about it! A lazy girls dream come true. Just saying.

Rimmel's Stay Matte powder was a forgotten treasure for me and now that I repurchased it, I don't think I'll be able to live without it ever again. I have it in the shade transparent. For the price, which is ridiculously cheap considering what you get, it's a super powder. Love love love!

The two book I've read recently were The Silent Tide by Rachel Hore and The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I don't want to give up too much, since I'll be writing reviews on these. I just want to say that they were really addictive and I read them in like three days. But should we shortly talk about the fact that the other book is a book and the other one is an electronical book. I'm a very traditional person when it comes down to books. The best ones are definitely hardbacks. They just have a certain feeling to them. But when I hear of a good book and know it has not yet been published in Finland, and anyways English books are a bit harder to get hold of over here, I occasionally purchase a book onto my iPad. My hubby appreciates it because it means I don't have to keep the lights on in our bedroom when I want to read :D

Something that hasn't been going so well this month is working out. I've simply had zero motivation towards it. I usually love taking fitness classes and take one several times per week. That has not been happening in October. I thin it's the time it takes all together. The class itself usually takes about an hour or so and then there are the trips to and back from the gym. So instead of going somewhere to workout, I've tried to do it at home. For that I have downloaded a couple of apps and my favourite one so far has been the Daily Yoga app. I've simply been loving to do a short morning yoga session before I start my day and this app gives you loads of different yoga sessions to go through.

The lack of working out has effected me in a couple of ways. But I think the most important one is the quality of my sleep. A good workout makes me tired and after them I fall asleep fairly easily. Since the workouts haven't been happening, I have experienced some slight insomnia. I've always been like that, a poor sleeper. And I decided to, rather than make myself go do something I wasn't at all interested in at the time, to seek for another solution to my problem. And another app came down my way. It's called Calm. It gives you sessions for e.g. calming anxiety, falling asleep and just taking a break during the day. I've really been enjoying it and it has helped!

And then lastly the most exciting thing. I have a little announcement to make. I've known this for a while, but not until last Tuesday was I absolutely sure about this. And no, I'm not pregnant. To me, this is much cooler at the moment! Because I'm moving to London!!! <3 My favourite place in the whole wide world! YEAH! By moving there, I mean I'll be doing an internship there during January. And I'm just so happy about this. I will definitely keep you updated with all the things happening around this like what to pack with you and stuff like that. Oh my, I can't wait!

Excitement overload. I better go. How was your October? And any tips on getting a short term flat in London are more than welcome!

What I got for my 26th birthday

I celebrated my 26th birthday a week ago, as you might know if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter (@wellemma_). It was truly a wonderful day and although I'm aready 26 and have had a couple of birthdays, I still seem always to look forward to it. Today I thought I'd show you what I got for my birthday. Everybody always do those little disclaimers before these sort of posts or videos, and I'm about to do exactly the same: My intention is not to brag or show off. I simply love all the presents I got and thought showing them would be quite fun to do.

First of all, my husband gave me a camera. Before this I was filming and taking pictures with a Canon SX230, which stopped filming after 15 minutes and warned the battery was dying after 10 minutes of filming. So as I'm quite into this blogging thing and have been for a while, I felt like a good new camera was what I needed. The camera my husband bought me is the OLYMPUS Pen E-PL7 which I'm totally in love with. I'm still learning how to use it but already the difference in the quality of pictures is so clear. I also got a breakfast in bed, which I wish I could have every morning hehe. ;)

From my parents I got a purse and a necklace from Laura Ashley. Both are really pretty and particularly the purse is so autumn appropriate with the bright colours! I moved all my cards and money into it instantly! I'm not really a necklace person, because I love wearing scarves, but this one is lovely and small, so I'll definitely be getting a lot of use out of it!

My husband's parents  gave me some pj's which are perfect for a tea lover like myself! Plus they're so comfy I could live in them. I don't know the exact shop they're from, but I think they came from Budapest. And then they got me also a super cute little purse but this one is more of a coin purse I feel like.

And that was all I got. All lovely things.<3

Garnier BB Cream

Today I wanted to talk to you about a very special product which I tend to repurchase all the time. It is the Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector. And it's just simply amazing for five different reasons.

1. The scent is the best! It smells of fruits and freshness and I don't think I've had such a good smelling makeup product.

2. It leaves your face looking dewy and gives you a healthy glow. This isn't something oily skin types would prefer, but I think it's just perfect with a bit of powder added on top.

3. It's fairly cheap. Although I must admit I have never bought a high end BB cream. But cheap price is always a bonus!

4. It's very moisturizing! Which I guess is the reason for the glowy look it gives. I can't even use a separate moisturizer with this product, because of my combination skin type. And let's be honest here, on those super early mornings you don't want to be doing that full skincare & makeup routine of yours, which is exactly why BB creams are so great!

5. The coverage is semi good. And that is a huge compliment for a BB cream, since they're kind of like a diluted version of foundations.

What is your favourite BB cream?

My birthday!

October has been one of my favorite months of the year for almost forever. Nowadays it's more about the cozyness and pretty colors, but as a child it was pretty much about my birthday. Which I celebrated last Saturday. I had a wonderful day and somehow managed to spend time with my husband, family and friends although they all live in different cities.

My day started at home. I woke up to my husband singing "happy birthday to you". He made me breakfast in bed with a good ol' pot of toffee tea and a yummy sandwich. I think I spent another hour or so in bed, enjoying my breakfast really slowly and reading The Girl on the Train -book, which I was totally hooked on and have finished it by now.

My husband left for a floorball game and that's when I started getting ready, had a shower, did my makeup and left for my parent's house. I had some more tea  and cake there with my little sisters and dad. I can't even remember when somebody baked me cake, so that was a really nice surprise! I even got to blow out a candle.

I then left for my friends house, where I had invited a few girls over. We cooked tortillas and chatted about all sorts of things. I was really happy to see all of them, since I live in a different city at the moment. We did head out to a bar in Helsinki as well. Unfortunately, none of us really go out that often anymore and so we had no idea where to go. And so we totally picked the wrong bar, where dancing was made impossible. I love dancing, but that just wasn't happening to that noise some call music (I needed Rihanna and got techno boo). Nonetheless, I got to spend time with my friends and enjoyed that very very much.

The day was awesome and growing older doesn't bother me a bit when I have people like this in my life <3 I was thinking of filming a what I got for my bday -video, so that might be coming up next!

UD Naked Smoky

It has finally arrived! I feel like I've waited forever.

The fourth addition to the Naked family came out last July, which was right after our honeymoon in the US. How unlucky is that? At that point Urban Decay wasn't sold in Finland and all the online shops were very quickly running out of this beautiful palette. This autumn though, two department stores started stocking Urban Decay and last Friday they started finally selling the Naked Smoky palette. I ordered one online on the first minute they started selling them.

I'm actually more of a natural eyes girl than a smoky eye girl. But the concept of a neutral smoky eye sounded very interesting and I was totally up for the challenge. I'm afraid I totally failed my first attempt at this, but I'm not giving up any time soon :D

The palette comes with a double-ended brush with a smudger at the other end and a crease brush at the other. I don't now too many people who use the brushes that come with these palettes, but personally I quite like them. A detailed look book is also included, which is such a saviour for a beginner like me.

The packaging is stunning, as I'm sure all of us can see for ourselves. Even my husband commented on it the other night and that's a lot said from him, since he never comments anything on my makeup. Well, except that I have too much of it... I love the magnetic closing system so much! It's so handy and the package seems pretty sturdy and safe.

As in every Naked palette, you get 12 different shades in the Smoky palette, which include four shimmer shades, four satin shades and four matte shades. You get some really pretty warm tones but the colder shades are the ones that intrigue me the most. They look brilliant and they're also the satin formulated ones, which tend to be my favourite. Or maybe right after matte shades.

Oh I'm so excited for this and can't wait to experiment more!

How do you like the newest member of the Naked family? What are your favourite shades?
