My Day Monday

August is coming to an end and I want to end it in a special way. And so I filmed a day in my life. Pretty briefly but it's a start. I must say I did kind of enjoy vlogging and would definitely see myself doing it again. It might be a bit too much to vlog daily at the moment since I've got a lot going on with my studies. But instead I could perhaps do monthly or weekly vlogs. Would you guys be interested in something like that? I could watch vlogs forever, but what about you?

Now onto the vlog. I hope you enjoy it!

This is my last post for this month. Although I will get back to August with a fave post. Stay tuned for that one! After that it is time to start indulging yourself with everything autumnal. Personally, I can not wait for that!!

School Saturday

I can't believe it's actually the last weekend of August. How quickly do these months pass by nowadays? When I was younger, summers felt like they lasted ages and now they're gone within a blink on an eye. Anyway, that only means that there will be another favourites-post coming up fairly soon and that's always nice :)

But on to the actual subject. Now I'm going back to school (or university to be precise) for the last time. Which is why I wanted to do a school related video. I'm also looking for a new school bag at the moment, since it's my last chance of buying one. Any suggestions?

Now onto the video. In the first part of it I reveal to you, what I carry around with me to school and in the second part I show you a really easy and simple makeup look: perfect for those early school mornings.

I hope you enjoy the video! Let me know what you have to have with you at school!

New Office

We had a bit of a problem with our office area in our flat. Since we moved in together from our separate flats, we both had desks. And when we moved, neither of us was ready to give up their desk. That would have been ok, if our flat had two offices. But as it is, we kind of have none and had to fit two desks into one corner of our living room. It looked as disasterous as it sounds like. So from the very beginning I swore we'd some day sell both of our old desks and get a new one. That day is now here and I'm so happy with the outcome!

The office still consists of the same single corner of the living room, but the whole space is now more open and it lets more light inside our flat.

The desk is from Ikea and you can buy the table top and legs separately. The material is bamboo, which I think looks pretty cool.

We also needed more room for storage, because both of our old desk had loads of drawers attached to them. So we bought a chest of drawers and a high cabinet with doors.

I'm very fond of our new little office and feel so inspired sitting here.

What's your favourite part of our new office?

Food Friday

I thought I'd share a delicious, easy and healthy recipe with you today for Food Friday. I very recently found this myself and was quite impressed with it!

Spinach Pasta

You will need:

400-500 g pasta
1 tbls coconut oil
1 onion, chopped
the meat of your choice, I used mince meat
200 ml hot vegetable stock
300 g frozen peas
250 g spinach
fresh basil

1. Start cooking the pasta. Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the chopped onion and cook until it starts to soften. Add your meat and cook it until it is ripe. Pour in the hot stock and boil.

2. Stir in the peas and wait until they have defrosted. Add the spinach and basil.

3. Drain the pasta and mix it with the sauce. Serve while still warm! Enjoy!

P.S. You could add some cheese to it too, but I just thought I'd do it the healthy way (for once hehe...).

Wishlist Wednesday

I just can not help but talk about autumn. I like summer... but I just love autumn and being already so close...Nope, I can't stay quiet! :D Especially when most of my favourite shops have started to bring out their autumn ranges. I'm especially nuts about scarves and at the moment I'm craving for a monochrome, huooge one! And loads of other things... Which brings me back to the theme of the day: wishlist. Here's what I'd like to wear in the autumn.

The scarf. It's got to be oversized and warm. I just love to wrap one around myself during lectures at university because the auditoriums and lecture halls at our university can be quite cold. I'd like a monochrome one but I'm afraid I found loads of other coloured scarves aswell :D ooopsss....
Asos 24,89€

Asos 27.65 €

Asos 24.89€

I'd also love to wear a green parka this autumn. I can't even remember how many years I've been looking for one. They just go so well with basically everything. Asos do sell a very nice one at the moment....

A new school bag would be so cool. Since I'm starting my last year of university and it's probably my very last chance to do that school bag shopping, I'm really looking for a good one. I've been really attracted to some very basic black ones.

Asos 76.04€

Continuing with accesories, I'd love to have a floppy hat. I think they go so well with leather jackets and some skinny jeans. Oh I almost forgot...I don't have a leather jacket. Boohoo.

Asos 30.42€

These are just some of the things I'd like to wear this autumn. But I'm afraid my Asos (and Topshop, New Look and Zalando) shopping wishlist isn't this empty. So there are some serious decisions to be made :D

Have a lovely evening lovelies <3

Motivation Monday

What keeps me motivated?

I like sports and fitness and working out. I've basically always been into it, if you don't take into account a year after high school... But as a child and teenager I did gymnastics day and night and when I grew older I found dancing and fitness classes. Now I instruct classes myself and study physical education. And even so, I still sometimes feel uninterested in doing workouts. I guess we all have those days. The trick is to just make yourself do the bl***y workout however untempting it feels at the moment.  =D You know you'll feel great after it (and actually the less you want to do the workout, the better you'll feel after it). But here are a couple of simple tricks, which get me going to the gym.

1. Plan your workout timetable in advance and write it down into your diary.

2. Have a goal and tell others about it. When you say it out loud, it becomes more real.

3. Have a training buddy. You don't necessarily always have to train together, because I know how difficult it is to fit schedules together, but sometimes is better than never! Group pressure is an amazing motivator. Fitness classes are so great exactly because of this.

4. Only move the way you like to move. I'm pretty sure there's a sport for all of us, and if you haven't found one that you enjoy, keep trying. I'd also advice to try very different things. For example, I tried cross country skiing a couple of years ago. I absolutely hated it as a kid and swore I'd never touch skis again. Of course, while we're in Finland, cross country skiing is a part of the physical education studies and so I had to wear those silly skis again. Guess what? I enjoyed it so much I had to buy a pair of skis myself. I'm still amazed by that....

I hope this helps you. It certainly reminded me I should wake up at 6.30am tomorrow morning for my workout. At the moment, I really want to do that too! :)

Have a wonderful week everybody.

ThrowbackThursday: Bahamas Cruise

Now that was easy. I've been having trouble with thinking of themes for Tuesdays and Thursdays. But that was just so simple I can not believe it. Silly me. Oh well...

The last part of our honeymoon was spent on a three night cruise to the Bahamas. We had heard so much positive feedback of these cruises that we were really tempted to go on one ourselves. I was looking forward especially to the unlimited food, ice cream and sunshine :D

Our cruise was held by the Royal Caribbean and we sailed on the Majesty of the Seas, which is (if I've understood correctly) the company's oldest and smallest ship. We could definitely see the difference while we were at Nassau parked next to the Oasis of the Seas, which is like huuuoooge. But alas, the ship was nice and tidy, maybe a bit old style but we didn't mind.

The unlimited drinks were great. We got the second cheapest package for them, which included beer, wine, non-alcoholic cocktails. Eero was happy with his beer and I enjoyed my non-alcoholic cocktails. Especially the strawberry daiquiris! Food was alright, but maybe not quite what I was expecting. Breakfast and lunch were held as buffets and I donut know if it was the food or the warm weather but I just didn't enjoy them as much as I had thought I would. Dinner was totally a different matter. It was served at a fancy restaurant and it was so delicious!

Our first stop was at CocoCay, which is an island owned by the Royal Caribbean. Basically it's just an island full of beach and palm trees. It was really nice laying under the trees and when we went swimming we actually saw a ray fish! How cool is that. I have to admit I was kind of avoiding it with the other ladies in the water :D but anyway, really cool. But oh my gosh, those bird on that island were unbelievably annoying. We were served a barbecue lunch on the island and those birds would just attack your plate with all of their friends. They took my hot dog sausage :D didn't feel too hungry after that.

On the third day we stopped at Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas. It was just like I had always imagined a Caribbean city to be: colourful, cute buildings, and more palm trees everywhere :D It was very small though: basically one street. We got some frappuccinos from Starbucks, strolled along the street for a while and went back to the ship to enjoy the sun on the deck.

The only thing we bought on the cruise(or while on the cruise) was a magnet for our fridge door from Nassau, because we collect those from everywhere that we go. We did pay for the drinks package but other than that, we didn't need out purses with us at all.

As a recap, the cruise was a very relaxing experience. Although I think I'm happier on shore.

#wellreadbook The Artificial Anatomy of Parks by Kat Gordon

In between these themed days (and because I couldn't think of a theme for Tuesday :D) I'l try to write "normal" posts too. So here's one of a novel I read recently.

I feel like I haven't read enough this summer. Usually I fill my summers with novels to read because I don't have school books to read and I love my hometown's library with it's section for English novels! They're in this old part of the library building and I could spend quite a long time there wondering between bookshelves.

Kat Gordons novel The Artificial Anatomy of Parks was the first book I read this summer. I bought  it from Gatwick airport because the cover was pretty! Now there's one silly reason to buy a book. I'm sure it'll look lovely on my bookshelf though :D

The novel itself was rather addictive and I read it really fast. The storyline jumps between a couple of different eras in the life of Tallulah Parks and keeps the reader interested with solving her nowadays problems by going through her past. The book is all about family and psychology and how much children need their parents to really be there for them.

It's a quick read so I really reccomend it for holiday reading or for a coupe of days off from work or school.

My wedding makeup tutorial

Yeeepeeerrssss I'm a bit nervous.

So I recently got married (as you might have noticed if you've read all of my posts since I've probably mentioned it in most of them :D ). I did my wedding makeup myself which is why I thought I'd film me doing it just so that you guys could see what products I used and which ones worked for me.

I'm not a trained makeup artist or anything like that. I'm just reaally interested in makeup and excited about it. I had a lot of practice before the wedding day and was very happy with the outcome. My makeup stayed on me the whole day and I didn't have to worry about it at all!

Enough rambling, here's my first ever makeup tutorial video, ENJOY! :)

My TOP 3 advice for wedding makeup:

1. Wear waterproof makeup! You do not want to look like a panda on your wedding day.

2. Use a good primer. Even if you don't normally use one.

3. Go for natural! You are going to want to look at you wedding photos later on in life and admire your wedding look. Not wonder who an earth is that and what is she wearing on her face?!

From Miami to Key West

The honeymoon continues! We drove from Orlando to Miami Beach. The journey took us about four hours. I had been wishing for a scenic view of Florida, but the roads had high bushes all around them, so I wasn't able to see much.

At Miami Beach we stayed in a hotel called the Kent Hotel. It was reasonably priced and the staff was alright. We were surprisingly taken foor a "tour" of the hotel and got to pick a room ourselves. I've never done that at a hotel before :D We chose a room with mirrors everywhere!

We didn't really spend too much time at Miami Beach. Instead we drove a lot while staying there: on the first day we drove to Sawgrass Mills shopping center and spent the whole day there. And the second we spent driving all the way down to Key West. I still have a haul to do, so I'll show you guys all the shopping that I got from Sawgrass Mills later on.

The drive from Miami to Key West takes about four hours if you drive straight on with no pauses. The drive itself is quite enjoyable with all the beaches and bridges on the way. But I would highly recommend you do a few stops, since the nature down there is sooooo beautiful!

Our first stop was at the Dolphin research center. For many years it has been a dream of mine to swim with dolphins and the honeymoon seemed like the perfect time for making that dream come true. The encounter was really pricy but for a good reason of course! It was totally worth it, but wouldn't probably do the excact same again, I'd rather swim with wild ones. But they are amazing and beautiful animals.

After the dolphins, we drove on to Bahia Honda state park. The beach there has been nominated as the most beautiful in the US many times. Those nominations were definitely earned for a reason! If you're anywhere close to this place, do stop by!

From Bahia Honda we drove directly to Key West. The town seemed really pretty and basically you could spend more than one evening here. We ate on the sunset boulevard, while watching the sun set to the Mexican Gulf. I ate Mahi mahi with mac and cheese.

The drive was honestly very nice and was again one of the highlights of our honeymoon. If I'd go again I would stop for a longer time to Key West and explore the town and surroundings more thoroughly!

I heart summer TAG

I haven't done a tag for a while, so I thought I'd do a summery one now that it still actually is summer. This one is the I Heart Summer Tag.

1. Your dream summer vacation
London. Haha. It's just that I would go there whenever. I'd also like to travel to Germany next and see the Neuschwanstein castle!

2. Favourite summer drink
Pink lemonade...served cold please. And strawberry daquiri (non-alcoholic).

3. S'mores or ice cream?
Definitely ice cream. Vanilla flavoured with some berries on top. Mmmmm...

4. Pool or beach?
A beautiful beach is always better than any pool.

5. Would you rather spend your day outside in the pool or inside watching Netflix?
Outside. I'll save Netflix for the cold winter evenings :)

6. Your most fun summer memory?
My wedding this summer <3 it was the best day ever! I think I'll have to post a couple of pics here although I have a wedding blog as well. But they're just amazing and I can't stop looking at them :D

© Täydenkuun Kuva

7. Favourite summer nail polish?
Tart deco by Essie

8. Sunglasses or hats?
I don't really wear hats in the summer so I'll have to go with sunglasses.

9. Favourite summer scent?
Fresh and light scents are my thing in the summer so I prefer body mists. I just bought Love spell from Victoria's secret and think it's very nice.

10. Bikinis, tankinis or one pieces?
Bikinis, but I'm definitey buying a one piece next summer. Promise!

11.Summertime book recommendations.
I just finished The artificial anatomy of Parks by Kat Gordon and it was quite entertaining. I will be doing a separate post about this later so keep tuned :)

To be honest (everyone's going to hate me for this) I'm actually quite excited about autumn. I just can't wait to wear huge, warm scarves again!

But let's enjoy the summer while it's still here <3
